Paul Soosai Canal
We know that RBC project, with the grace of God, is going ahead as we wished, with the fervent cooperation of Sri. Krishnankutty, Minister for Water Resource of Kerala. Recently he has come forward to help the tributary canal called Paul Soosai Canal which was constructed some 150 years ago by our Tamil Catholics of Kozhinjampara area. As a branch from Varatayar this canal flows from Paul Soosai Check-Dam reaches up to Kularayanpalayam. In course of time it was damaged and not used for more than 100 years. The local Catholics of Villooni-Eruthenpathy took initiative to identify the canal and started doing some renovation. At this time the minister came forward to help re-constructing the canal up to Kularayanpalayam, extending about 25 Km. This canal will fill 20 water pools which would give be a good source for drinking and agricultural proposes. Our Bishop visited the canal twice and encouraged the renovation work; he also had a meeting with the Minister in the Bishops’ house on Sunday 27, September and thanked him for his kind help and also requested him to continue the project of RBC and this canal for the benefit of our people. We thank wholeheartedly the Minister and the RBC members for this important on-going initiative.
In this regard, the canal inauguration is scheduled on 20.10.2020 by Sri. Krishnankutty, Minister for Water Resource of Kerala. Our Bishop and other members and officials participates in this programme at Agricultural farm house, Eruthenpathy.
