Our diocese of Sultanpet, when bifurcated in 2013, inherited a spiritual leader in the person of Rev. Fr. K.P. Vincent (90). He breathed his last on Thursday 2
5 November 2021 and a very Solemn Funeral Mass and burial was held at our Cathedral, Sultanpet on Friday November 2021.
Rev. Fr. K.P. Vincent born on 11 may 1931 to Mr. Kutikkadan Paranchu and Mrs. Pathiyan Rosa at Melarcode, Palakkad district,
Kerala. He was ordained a Priest of the diocese of Coimbatore on 18 December 1995. In his 90 years, in this world he lived as a Priest for 66 years and it is a great mercy of God that he had active Priestly ministry for 49 years. The Palakkad district of Latin Catholics benefitted his pastoral and spiritual ministry for 21 years. In particular, he started his Priestly ministry at Kanjikode, Sorappara, Athikode, Nemmara and Palakkad (St. Sebastian’s church) where he served for 9 years. During this time he also served as manager of St. Paul’s high school & higher secondary school for 10 years. He was a faithful servant on God’s vineyard witnessing to Christ’s mercy and love.
Priestly life is a vocation to serve not only the Christian faithful but also people of other beliefs. It is a great challenge to witness to God’s love in the midst of so many worldly negative forces and Fr. K.P. Vincent was absolute disciple of Jesus Christ in faithfully following the footsteps of his Master.
He spent his retired life (17 years) mostly with his brother’s family at Melarcode. I wish to thank and appreciate the family of his brother, Mr. Lawrence for their sacrifice and love till the last moment of his life. Whenever he was sick, he visited Paalana Hospital which took care of his illness and the last days of his life, this Hospital showed much concern and care with dedication and commitment. I thank the former Directors of this Hospital, Rev, Fr. Julius Arakkal CMI, Rev. Fr. Thomas Chakaramachil CMI and the present Director Rev. Fr. Walter Thelappilly CMI for taking care of him with much generosity and love.
The Funeral Mass and burial was held on Friday 26 November 2021 in the Cathedral church of Sultanpet. A lot of people, well-wishers, Religious sisters and the Priests from the Diocese of Coimbatore and our Diocesan Priests participated in this. I appreciate and thank Rev. Fr. John Joseph Stanis, Vicar General of the Diocese of Coimbatore and other Priests from the same diocese for their active participation, showing their solidarity and love. The Funeral Mass began at 3.00 pm and ended at 5.00pm.
May the Soul of Rev. Fr. K.P. Vincent Rest in Peace.
